The design challenge centres on giving a practical kitchen a calm, considered presence. Tall cabinetry and multiple appliances need visual continuity, while reflective finishes require restrained lighting. The island must accommodate preparation and seating without allowing its substantial form to overwhelm the room.
The solution
Handleless taupe cabinetry creates a continuous backdrop, while dark stone defines the island and worktops. Timber accents introduce warmth, and layered lighting highlights key surfaces, bringing depth and balance to the finished kitchen interior.
The island anchors the room, combining a cooking surface with comfortable seating along its timber frontage. Soft lighting beneath the counter emphasises the grain, while an illuminated glass cabinet adds a vertical focal point. Across the back wall, recessed worktops and neatly aligned appliances maintain visual order, creating a kitchen that feels composed, welcoming and connected through its materials.
